The River Ems had a WFD ecological status (2009 – 15) of poor and was failing for fish population and dynamics of flow. A number of factors were identified; low seasonal flow, manmade obstructions and a heavily modified (straightened) course. This project seeks to rectify these factors by;
-
Augmenting flow
-
Introducing fish passage easements
- Channel modifications
- To recreate a high quality chalk stream capable of supporting a healthy and diverse ecology.
